The Art of Project Management in an Oracle Applications Environment
Traditionally many of our students/consultants aspire to Project Management roles and struggle to make the leap from functional or technical consultant to PM.
If they are lucky they can do a comprehensive course like the Project Management Institute’s PMP course. I have just come across a book that can make the task of translating those classroom skills onto a real life Oracle project.
“Goal Directed Project Management” published by Kogan Page does not focus on the nuts on bolts of how to create a project plan like many project management books but rather deals with many of the reasons why projects fail.
It first looks at effective ways for teams to collaborate in the achievement of projects with comprehensive goal sets.
The book also advocates the concept of milestones and responsibility charts .As can be seen the focus on fixing the people issues within a project which is normally the major factor in failing projects.
The book also identifies new software to support the approach “Goal Diorector” can be downloaded at www.gdpm.no
This book should be used as part of the Oracle Certified Professional exam preparations for consultants looking to manage Oracle projects.
If you are new to the Oracle Applications arena and are looking for career advice please drop me a line and i will write an article to help you on your way if i can.
