How many years of Oracle Technology experience do you have?
A: 11 years.? My previous firm started the Stellent Enterprise Content Management channel partner program in the US in 1998.
How did you come to work with Oracle Technology?
A: We were looking for a document management repository solution for our own company in 1997 when we came across Stellent and fell in love with the capabilities of the product.? As the first commercially sold Java application in the US, we could see the vast and limitless possibilities of this technology and wanted to be a part of the forthcoming content management surge.
When did you become an Oracle Contractor?
A: I became an Oracle Contractor after Oracle acquired Stellent in 2006.
What is the most enjoyable part of your work?
A: I enjoy helping to educate customers on the value of enterprise content management and then seeing them realize this value.? Once people understand specifically what this technology can do for their business in terms of the value it can provide and how easy it is to use, it generally becomes core infrastructure and expands rapidly.
What is the least enjoyable part of your work?
A: I am not a fan of the paperwork that often accompanies my job.? I would rather be spending face-to-face time with clients helping them solve their most pressing enterprise content management problems.
What has been the most satisfying project you have worked on and why?
A: I have been fortunate enough to work on one of the largest, most recognizable and broadest reaching enterprise content management deployments in the US.? We have helped to build for this global 50 manufacturer more than 200 enterprise content management applications on a single technology architecture.? They truly understand the value of the technology and want to leverage that value across their enterprise.? They are also great people to work with so that makes my work even more enjoyable!
Which consultant/contractor have you learned the most from/enjoyed working with the most and why?
A: Jason Stortz has risen to be one of the leading enterprise content management authorities in a very short amount of time.? He helps me understand the most difficult of technical issues with his calm demeanor and communication style.? He has since become a close friend and a trusted business advisor.
What do you see happening as Content Management becomes a key component of Oracle?s Fusion Middleware stack?
A: The future is very bright for enterprise content management within Oracle.? Web delivery is the least expensive form of information delivery.? This specific technology is only part of the overall value that can be brought to a client.? Identity Management, SOA and BPEL are a few examples of complementary technologies that can change a client?s business for the better.
What are the hot topics in your area of expertise?
A: Quantifiable return on investment and environmental/?green? initiatives are at the top of the list for the foreseeable future.
What do you do when you are not working?
A: I enjoy spending quality time with my wife of nineteen years and my two children.? My daughter is a competitive high school basketball player and I help to coach my son in his various athletic endeavors.
